My comp and I worked very hard this week and tried to visit as many dots as we could in our area on the app Area Book we as missionaries use. Dots are people who are either inactive members, once interested investigators, or members. We knocked doors all day trying to talk to these people and get a better understanding of what they were going through, but we didn't have a ton of success. It can sometimes be tough when nothing is developing, but we have to remember that everyone else except us is living their normal everyday life. There will be moments when nothing is happening but as long as we do our part, we will be guided.
Elder Kasulas and I have become like brothers in these short two weeks. We have a ton in common and have personalities that are very similar to each other. I've learned a lot about how to interact with members and their right way to go about missionary work with real intent. We work very hard and have a blast doing it. However, two weeks is all we are going to get. We got news late last night that he is being Emergency Transferred to another area to help out with another American's Português. None of us expected it or wanted it. We had already built close relationships with a lot of the people we have been teaching, and he has helped me start to be myself in another language. Stuff like this is never fun, but I think back to when I first got here and the things I learned. We are put in hard situations to grow, and it's our job to approach them with the willingness to change. If it was easy, you wouldn't learn anything. I'm grateful for the time we had together and hope to carry on the things he taught me for the rest of my time here. I trust things like this happen for a reason and that the Lord will watch over me.
This will definitely be a test and push me, but I'm ready to get after it. My new comp is Elder Silva from Rio De Janeiro and speaks almost no English. I will be living with three Brazilians in the same house and continue to serve in Tramandai. We have a lot of opportunities this week, and I'm going to do whatever I can to capitalize. It's moments like these in the mission when you have to have faith in the process. Thank you all for the e-mails and continue to send more!
Love, Elder Copeland
