Week 33 - January 30, 2023

What's up, everyone?  This week flew by and was a step forward in the right direction.  It is still brutally hot and hit 108 this Friday.  As of late, I've been rocking the bucket hat and it's been a clutch play.  I've had a lot of Brazilians say it's not a good look, but my face hasn't been burned in who knows how long.

This week, we ran around visiting as many people as we could, whether that be new people we are teaching or people that were in contact with the missionaries 10+ years ago.  We did our fair share of walking this week, and we've got the blisters to show for it.  This Sunday we were able to see small victories.  We had a few members bring some friends, who had a great time, as well as people we taught a long time ago come on their own.  It really does show you that everyone is fighting their own battles and that the Lord has a time for everyone.  When it's right, it will happen.

This week, me and Elder Cloward started to break down the drug trafficking that goes on in our area lol.  After walking every road what seems like 1000 times, you start to pick up on things.  What they do is have a guy on every corner on the street and alley way, and at all times during the day, people pull up. If they pass the check, they are good to go and the deal goes down.  We've yet to see what happens when they don't pass the check, but it's quite the process.  One day we were looking for a friend that had come to our soccer activity and after passing by these guys multiple times, they seemed a little alarmed.  They didn't quite understand why we wanted to talk to him so much, so we called it good and got out lol.

We're taking the right steps out here.  Little by little--but the work is going.  We've got a big week coming up and have some good work to get down.  Please keep us and the people we are teaching in your prayers.

Have the best week!
Elder Copeland
